G-Star Raw Appoints Botter Duo as First Creative Directors in Over Five Years

G-Star Raw has named Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh—co-founders of the Caribbean-rooted luxury label Botter—as its new creative directors, marking the brand’s first such appointment since 2018. As reported by Business of Fashion, the pair will helm the Amsterdam-based denim house with a debut collection slated for unveiling at Paris Fashion Week in January 2026.

The life partners, who launched Botter in 2017 and quickly rose to acclaim with a finalist nod at the LVMH Prize and a four-year stint leading Nina Ricci, are known for their bold, sustainability-driven design language. Their vision for G-Star Raw will take a nostalgic turn, drawing heavily from the brand’s 1990s heyday—including its cult-favorite Elwood pants released in 1996.

In a statement shared via LinkedIn, G-Star CEO Rob Schilder said, “Rushemy and Lisi’s progressive thinking, and our shared devotion to innovation, craftsmanship and sustainability, make this the ideal partnership to guide the brand forward.” He added that the duo will not only shape seasonal menswear and womenswear collections but will also reintroduce RAW RESEARCH, the brand’s most experimental denim line, with its debut scheduled for Paris Fashion Week in January 2026.

Founded in 1989 by Jos van Tilburg, G-Star Raw carved out a niche in edgy denim and utilitarian streetwear. The creative relaunch comes two years after the company was acquired by WHP Global, the brand management firm behind Bonobos and Rag & Bone.

A first glimpse of Botter and Herrebrugh’s influence is expected this June, setting the stage for what could be a defining new chapter in G-Star’s legacy.
