The Caribbean Bookstagrammers You Need to Know

The advent of social media has revolutionized various industries, including the literary world, by providing a platform for influencers to share their passions and knowledge. Book influencers, or “bookstagrammers” and “booktokers,” have emerged as key players in the literary space, utilizing Instagram and TikTok to engage with readers and promote literature. Among these influencers, Caribbean book influencers hold a unique and vital position. Their work goes beyond mere promotion; it encompasses the preservation and celebration of Caribbean culture, stories, and voices.

Caribbean bookstagram and Caribbean booktok communities have become essential in bringing Caribbean literature to a global audience. These influencers dedicate their platforms to showcasing the diverse array of narratives that emerge from the Caribbean region. By doing so, they not only promote individual authors and their works but also contribute to a broader understanding and appreciation of Caribbean heritage and our Caribbean narrative.

In an increasingly globalized literary market, the role of Caribbean book influencers is particularly significant. They shine a spotlight on works that might otherwise be overlooked, ensuring that Caribbean stories are part of the global conversation. Through engaging reviews, discussions, and creative content, these influencers foster a deeper connection between readers and Caribbean literature. This connection is crucial for the survival and thriving of Caribbean reads, as it helps to sustain interest and support for both emerging and established authors from the region.

In early 2018, one of our first departures away #CaribbeanFashion featured a blog post on #CaribbeanBookstagrammers. Our initial list only had eight persons and we were extremely excited when we were able to add three more in a short space of time. In 2024- that list has grown exponentially with persons from all over the Caribbean chiming in on their love for books- including Caribbean literature. So this is our updated, ever-growing list of Caribbean Book Influencers that you need to know.
