Rachel Scott of Diotima Nominated for CFDA 2025 Womenswear Designer of the Year

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has unveiled the nominees and honourees for the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, set to take place on November 3 at the American Museum of Natural History. Among the standout names is Rachel Scott, the Jamaican-born designer behind Diotima, who is nominated for American Womenswear Designer of the Year. Scott, who previously won for Emerging Designer in 2023 and Womenswear Designer in 2024, now finds herself in the same category as Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera, and Daniella Kallmeyer — a testament to Diotima’s meteoric rise and growing cultural influence.
Scott’s nomination also comes on the heels of her recent appointment as Creative Director of Proenza Schouler, further cementing her as one of the most important voices shaping American fashion today. For a Caribbean-born designer to sit at the table alongside legends like Ralph Lauren underscores both her global reach and the new era of representation within the industry.
This year’s CFDA Awards will also honour Ralph Rucci with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, Andre Walker with the Isabel Toledo Board of Directors’ Tribute, and Sara Moonves of W Magazine with the Media Award. Cynthia Rowley, Pieter Mulier of Alaïa, and Donatella Versace round out the list of honourees, with Versace receiving the Positive Change Award for her advocacy and philanthropic efforts.
