The Book Fairy Festival JA is an annual event that promotes literacy and a love of reading in Jamaica through a shift in the existing reading culture. Our mission is to create a magical space where stories come to life and ignite passion in Jamaican people while creating an atmosphere for therapy, wellness and personal development. Through engaging activities and community involvement, we aim to renew and restore a culture of reading and creativity in our society 

About The Founder: 

Shanique Sinclair (also known as Shanz The Book Fairy), the visionary founder and curator of the Book Fairy Festival, is an advocate for literature, education and the transformative power of books. She has through her platforms, championed the cause of promoting a vibrant reading culture in the region. Her articulate and thought-provoking book reviews and recommendations have resonated with readers, inspiring many to delve into the world of books. A true book influencer, Shanique’s impact extends beyond the written page. She has taken her passion to the digital realm, where she engages with a wide audience through her biweekly program, “Friday Night Bookish Lyme.” Through this initiative, Shanique has had the privilege of interviewing numerous New York Times best-selling authors, providing her audience with unique insights into the literary world and fostering a sense of community, a crucial aspect of her desire for cultural growth. 

Shanique’s lifelong dream is to introduce everyone, regardless of age or background, to the profound joys of reading. Her focus extends beyond personal enjoyment; she envisions a positive change in the reading culture of Jamaica and aspires to influence the literary landscape across the Caribbean.

Storytelling Session: Enjoy a dynamic storytelling session where culture comes alive • Creative Writing Workshops: Participate in workshops designed to spark creativity and improve writing skills guided by guest authors. 

Mindfulness & Psychoeducation: Engage in therapeutic development through literature with our guest psychologist. 

Yoga sessions: Come and unwind with our morning yoga sessions 

Book Shop: Explore a wide selection of books from local bookstores, independent authors, and publishers. 

Artisan Village: Come and oblige our talented local artisans on Saturday July 27, 2024 • Cultural Excursion: We end the festival with a trip out of town for scenery and Jamaican vibes
