The Green Family Foundation Caribbean Cultural Institute (CCI) has opened applications for its 2026 fellowship cycle, extending an invitation to artists, scholars, researchers and photographers working across the Caribbean and its diaspora. Housed within Pérez Art Museum Miami, the programme continues to position itself as a critical node between artistic production, academic research and institutional access.
This year’s call spans three distinct strands: the CCI Artist Fellowship, the CCI Research Fellowship and a joint fellowship developed with the Women Photographers International Archive, focused on supporting women and nonbinary photographers. Each track is structured as a self-directed opportunity, foregrounding practices that interrogate and expand prevailing narratives of Caribbean art beyond geographic and disciplinary boundaries.
Operating as both a curatorial platform and research hub, the CCI has increasingly asserted Miami as a strategic site for Caribbean discourse — one that both amplifies visibility and raises questions around cultural centralisation. The fellowships reflect this tension, offering access to institutional resources while encouraging critical engagement with the frameworks that shape Caribbean representation globally.
Eligibility extends to practitioners based in the Caribbean and throughout its diasporic contexts. The Artist Fellowship targets emerging to mid-career creatives working across disciplines, while the Research Fellowship supports scholarly inquiry into Caribbean art histories and contemporary practice. The CCI + WOPHA Fellowship centres image-based work by women and nonbinary practitioners, responding to ongoing gaps in photographic archives.
Selection is competitive, with proposals assessed on conceptual rigour, relevance to Caribbean cultural production and the potential to contribute meaningfully to the field. Projects that engage critically — whether through archival research, interdisciplinary methods or new modes of production — are prioritised.
The 2026 fellowships will run between September and December, with formats tailored to each strand. The Research Fellowship includes a hybrid residency, combining remote work with a two-week period in Miami, with travel, accommodation and a stipend provided. The Artist Fellowship offers mentorship and a production budget of up to $4,000, while the WOPHA track supports the development of new or ongoing photographic work. Across all strands, fellows gain access to the museum’s collections, archives and broader institutional networks.
Applications close on 1 June 2026, with full submission details available via the CCI fellowship portal.
